WNYAHSA is a membership organization that is open to any not-for-profit entities that provide elder care services such as home care, assisted living, skilled nursing care, senior housing or other related senior community services.

WNYAHSA Member Benefits
Since 1966, WNYAHSA has served as an advocate to promote quality community- and facility-based services for older adults. WNYAHSA is an active networking group of more than 70 senior care communities throughout eight counties that enables members to share information and ideas. It also provides many educational opportunities for administrators and staff of member facilities to develop skills and programs that enhance quality care.

In addition, WNYAHSA hosts an annual banquet at which we recognize the outstanding efforts made by individual staff members and volunteers throughout the year. At the banquet, we also award scholarships to staff from member facilities to continue their education in the field of long term care.

WNYAHSA also offers leadership opportunities for participation in councils for assisted living facilities, senior housing and nursing homes. There are also opportunities be an advocate with local and state legislators regarding important issues facing seniors today.

Finally, the association has set a goal of educating the public on senior care issues. For a number of years, it has published a Community Guide, which is distributed free to seniors and their families through numerous Western New York agencies and organizations. Much of the information in the Community Guide is reflected in this website. Printed copies of the Community Guide can be obtained by calling the association's toll free number at 1-888-969-2472.

In 2006, WNYAHSA was instrumental in launching WNYSeniorCare.org. The site helps families make educated decisions about the care of their elder loved ones and lists all WNYAHSA member facilities as an additional member benefit. In 2007, WNYSeniorCare.org received the NYAHSA Innovation of the Year Award.
