The United Church Manor will celebrate its 25th anniversary this March. The Manor provides seniors and mobility impaired individuals in our community with affordable housing and assists them in maintaining their independence.
The Manor opened its doors in partnership with The U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in March of 1987. “Our mission is to offer peace of mind to our residents and their loved ones within an affordable apartment community,” said Karen Zmich, property manager.
“We still have one of our original residents, Mary Neville, living with us. She moved in on March 27, 1987,” Karen added.
Today, the Manor not only offers 50 affordable housing apartments to seniors aged 62+ and disabled (with mobility impairment) with limited income, but also employs a Service Coordinator to assist residents in maintaining their independent lifestyles. In addition, the Manor partners with Erie County’s “Staying Fit” Nutrition Program serving a nutritious, well-balanced meal Monday through Friday to seniors for a suggested donation of $2.75.
